Mental Health Awareness Week

Copyright Ronn Thwaites 2018I was asked to do some talks as part of Mental Health Awareness Week for organisations over the past week, focusing on mindfulness based approaches to conflict resolution

It struck me about just how far we’ve come in the UK around speaking about mental health and how willing people are to both attend events and talk about their experiences. There’s still a long way to go but compared to even a few years ago progress is happening

Personally it’s been mindfulness based approaches have helped me with my own experiences of anxiety and low moods. What I’ve found really helped was using mindfulness in all areas of my life including photography

Now I know that by going out for an hour or so for a ‘Mindful Photography’ session I can get that stillness that my mind needs at time. It gives me the opportunity to be in the present moment and give me the mental space that I want to achieve

As Mental Health Awareness Week draws to a close I’m really pleased that I’ve been able to share with others some practical mindfulness approaches that could help them. Going forwards in 2018 to keep the momentum going I’m really looking forward to running the ‘One Camera One Lens’ workshops and the new Mindfulness Based Conflict Resolution workshops which start in June

I’m also going to make a commitment to do many more talks and workshops this year that will help people manage their mental health by using mindfulness based approaches; I’ll be posting details of when and where they’ll be taking place on a regular basis
